Bengaluru: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Thursday simultaneous searched the premises of 12 government officials in various departments in eight districts across the State. Searches were conducted in Bengaluru, Nelamangala, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Ballari, Hassan, Raichur and Vijayapura.
Of the 12 officers, four are from Bengaluru: two chief engineers of the BBMP, a chief engineer of BESCOM and a deputy director in the Town Planning Department of the BDA.
ACB officials said that the raids had not concluded and details of disproportionate assets unearthed were being audited. The outcome of the searches, in terms of seizure of gold, cash or property disproportionately amassed by these officials, is likely to be made public in the coming days.
The raided officers include a woman, Rekha, panchayat development officer of Vajarahalli village in Nelamangala, whose office and home were searched, the sources said.
According to the ACB sources, the searches were carried out after detailed intelligence was gathered and information received about suspicious illegal activities involving the officer, who are believed to have misused their official position to amass wealth.
