Bengaluru: P Harishekharan, the ADGP of the Fire and Emergency Services Department, discovered a fake Facebook profile under his name and image. This deceptive account was utilized to send messages to acquaintances, aiming to extort money.
Usha Rani, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Cyber Crime Department, submitted a complaint to the Cyber Crime Police Station at the central division for investigation. Officials have stated that an investigation is underway to confirm the identity of the cyber fraudsters.
The miscreants had created six fake accounts on Facebook using ADGP P. Harishekharan’s photo and name. They later sent messages to ADGP’s friends, asking for immediate money transfer. Some friends suspected foul play and informed Harishekharan about the issue. Upon the complaint lodged by ADGP Usha Rani, an investigation has been initiated.
