Bengaluru: A cutting-edge entertainment venue, Aerodrome, is set to take shape near Kempegowda International Airport, reinforcing the Karnataka government’s commitment to arts and culture. Speaking at the DH Bengaluru 2040 summit, Oum Pradutt of Phase 1 Events shared that the project, supported by government subsidies, will be operational within 18 months.
A collaboration between Embassy Group, Phase 1 Events, and Live Nation, Aerodrome aims to host top global artists and rejuvenate the city’s live music landscape.
Discussing Bengaluru’s concert revival, Shivajinagar MLA Arshad Rizwan emphasized the economic benefits of entertainment. “Recognizing the industry’s revenue and job creation potential is key to ensuring better infrastructure and policies,” he stated.
Pradutt stressed the need to sensitize law enforcement to live performances, citing resistance faced by artists like Ed Sheeran during his Church Street appearance. He noted, “We don’t see similar restrictions for religious gatherings.”
Guitarist Bruce Lee Mani advocated for stronger government-private partnerships to foster a sustainable music ecosystem. While the number of musicians has surged over the past decade, financial stability remains a challenge. “Many artists juggle multiple jobs to sustain themselves,” he observed.
With Bengaluru’s thriving music scene, Aerodrome could be a game-changer in making the city a global concert destination.
