A 40-year-old man from Africa has been arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly distributing synthetic drugs to college students and IT professionals. The Central Crime Branch (CCB) seized MDMA valued at approximately ₹4 crore from the accused, identified as Daniel Arinze Okwosha.

Okwosha had entered India on a business visa in December 2023 and was residing in a rented apartment in Soladevanahalli along with a friend. Acting on a tip-off, CCB officers raided the flat and apprehended Okwosha. His associate, also suspected to be involved in the drug racket, managed to flee during the operation.

Authorities recovered 1.48 kg of white MDMA crystals and 1.1 kg of brown MDMA crystals during the search. A senior officer stated that the drugs were allegedly procured from contacts in other states and local suppliers. The duo is said to have specifically targeted young tech workers and college students, making Bengaluru’s youth the prime market.

Investigations are ongoing to trace the supply network and locate the absconding accomplice. Police have reiterated their focus on cracking down on the growing menace of synthetic drugs in the city.
