Tragedy struck early Thursday morning near Devanahalli when a minibus carrying airport staff crashed into a truck, killing one and injuring 25. The accident happened around 6:45 am near Kannamangala Gate on Ballari highway.
The deceased has been identified as N Kavyashri, 24, a housekeeping worker at Kempegowda International Airport and a resident of Bommasandra in Chikkaballapur. She lived with her parents, according to police.
The minibus was packed with staff headed to work when the driver, N Bhramesh, reportedly attempted to overtake another vehicle, resulting in a rear-end collision with a truck. Kavyashri, seated in the front, was killed instantly.
The driver and 24 others suffered minor injuries and were treated shortly after the incident. Police have arrested Bhramesh for causing death by negligence.
The incident raises fresh concerns about the safety of employee transportation on high-speed highways, particularly during early morning hours.
