Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday March 5 said the Inter-State Water Disputes Act needs total amendment. He reiterated that due to Act there has been less solution, and more disputes.

He was speaking at the southern states’ conclave on the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ and ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ (Rural) Projects here. Bommai said that the name itself has disputes in it. The Act needs to be amended as our law needs correction with more water being made available for different sections of people keeping aside narrow political considerations,” Bommai said.

Bommai added that river basin management is the only answer to the current water problems persisting in various states.
