Bengaluru: When the JDS and the Congress state leaders are engaged in the war of words over who should be the coalition candidate for the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency, it seems the first family of the JDS has already made a decision from its side.
Anita Kumaraswamy, MLA and wife of CM HD Kumaraswamy visited the Hole Anjaneya Swamy temple in Maddur on Tuesday and offered Rs 1.25 to the presiding deity.
She sought blessings for her son Nikhil Kumaraswamy’s bright future and this soon sparked a rumour that her son Nikhil is getting ready for a political coronation.
According to the JDS leaders who were accompanying Anita, she offered the amount in Nikhil’s name. It is now said that Nikhil will be contesting from the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency, which has become a prestige issue now.
If sources are to be believed, JDS local leaders are not too happy with the para dropping of Nikhil. “But no one can raise voice. Sumalata Ambareesh, who is aware of this is planning to contest from the Mandya for the same reason,” explained a leader.
Nikhil Kumaraswamy, 28 is a sandalwood actor. The third generation of the Gowda family too is showing a keen interest in politics. Prajwal Revanna, son of PWD Minister HD Revanna is already active in politics and is being projected as the JDS face in Hassan.
Mandya is an important territory for the JDS as well as the Congress and decision of Sumalatha Ambareesh, wife of former actor and Congress leader Late Ambareesh to contest polls from Mandya has become a cause of worry for the coalition partners.
