When Bengaluru’s Amrapali Shindhe took the Lollapalooza 2025 stage, she didn’t just bring her voice—she carried heritage, tradition, and a deep connection to Kannada music. Amidst a festival dominated by English and Hindi, her performance stood out, effortlessly blending Kannada, Hindi, English, and even Spanish rhythms.
“I performed two Kannada tracks and one in Hindi, fusing multiple tongues. While most artists at Lollapalooza stick to either English or Hindi, I wanted to break that mold,” she shared.
Her act was more than music—it was a statement. While Karnataka often finds itself in language debates, Amrapali is on a mission to elevate Kannada music globally. “Why can’t Kannada gain international recognition like Hindi, Tamil, or Telugu? If they can, so can we,” she asserted.
Her musical roots run deep. With folk artists and singers in her lineage, she has inherited a rich artistic legacy. One of her proudest performances was a modern take on ‘Sindhi Sarai,’ a song penned by her grandfather 50 years ago.
Beyond Lollapalooza, Amrapali aims to perform at Ziro and Hornbill festivals, collaborating with legends like Usha Uthup and AR Rahman. “Art unites people in a world full of divisions. My music should build bridges,” she said.
For her, this is just the beginning.
