Bengaluru: Here is one more bad news for the residents, who are already affected by the traffic chaos in the city. With the idea of providing more employment opportunities to the unskilled manpower and ease competition, the transport department has invited applications from drivers for 5,000 new auto permits.
Among these 5,000 permits, 500 will be given to women drivers. These will be pink autos.
“It is part of the 30,000 new auto permits which will be issued in the city in the next five years,” informed a transport department officer.
“Auto permits were started in the year 1965 in the city. This time only CNG/ LPG gas fitted autos will be permitted in the city. E-autos are not part of this permit system,” informed authorities.
The transport department also informed that only four-stroke engine autos will be permitted this time. “It is to ensure that autos will not cause any air pollution,” they added.
