Apple Inc. is preparing to open its third retail outlet in India, this time at Phoenix Mall of Asia, located in Hebbal, Bengaluru, according to a report by Business Standard. The new store will occupy around 8,000 square feet, making it similar in size to the company’s Delhi location, though notably smaller than the flagship store in Mumbai, which spans over 20,800 square feet.
The retail space deal includes a 10-year lease agreement, where Apple will pay a base rent plus a revenue-sharing model. For the initial three years, the tech giant will contribute 2% of sales revenue, which will rise to 2.5% from the fourth year onward.
This new outlet is part of a broader expansion strategy that includes three other upcoming stores in Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi-NCR. Apple had launched its first two Indian stores in 2023, one each in Mumbai and Delhi.
📈 Apple’s Intensifying Focus on India
The aggressive retail push highlights Apple’s increasing commitment to the Indian market, despite facing political tension with former US President Donald Trump. Trump has recently criticized Apple’s overseas production and warned of a possible 25% tariff on iPhones made outside the U.S. His remarks followed Apple’s decision to skip a U.S. business delegation visit to the Middle East, deepening the rift.
Nonetheless, Apple remains firmly focused on expanding its retail and manufacturing presence in India, indicating no immediate change in strategy.
