On the evening of March 31, a group of masked men stormed a private club in Bengaluru’s Banashankari 2nd Stage, robbing and assaulting a group of 13 friends who were drinking and gambling. The gang, armed with machetes, robbed ₹10 lakh in cash, 700 grams of gold jewelry, and multiple mobile phones before allegedly stripping the victims and locking them in a room.
The incident took place around 6 pm at BVK Club on 9th Main Road. The victims opened the door after hearing a knock, only to be overpowered by the attackers, who wore masks and caps. The robbers threatened and assaulted some of the group members, with one man reportedly struck on the hand with a machete handle. One of the victims, Ramesh, told police, “They ordered us to stay quiet, beat some of us, forced us to undress, and took away our clothes while fleeing.”
Following the investigation, Banashankari police arrested five suspects: Praveen, Manohar, Srikanth, Franklin Suresh, and Suri, all in their late twenties and early thirties. The suspects come from various parts of Bengaluru, including Anekal and Kanakapura in Ramanagara district. Police revealed that Praveen has a criminal history, with three prior cases registered against him at Bannerghatta and Adugodi police stations.
Authorities are also investigating the possible involvement of an insider who may have tipped off the gang, though their identity is being withheld as the investigation is ongoing. Meanwhile, a separate case has been filed against the club for hosting illegal gambling activities.
The investigation continues, with authorities working to gather more information and bring all involved parties to justice.
