Bengaluru: An Assistant Sub-inspector with the City Armed Reserve Force is alleged to have committed suicide by hanging after having been depressed about his estrangement with his son. The ASI was found hanging in a godown on the City Armed Reserve (CAR) south campus.

The ASI’s younger second son was said to have had a heated argument with him, following which he left home and cut ties with the family. A suicide note was found near the body in which the ASI, Dayananda Sagar had allegedly mentioned this as the reason.

ASI Sagar was a resident of Jayanagar, where he lived with his wife and two sons, and worked as an ARSI in CAR South on Hosur Road in Adugodi.

The body was found hanging in the godown where the CAR staff usually changed their clothing when they reported for duty and when they finished. A CAR staff found the ASI’s body at 11 pm when he went to change his clothes, and immediately alerted his superiors of the same.

The suicide note that was found by the Adugodi police near the body stated that the after his son left home a few months ago the ASI was depressed at not having been able to contact his son which is why he took this step.

According to the police, of his two sons, Kiran Sagar and Ganesh Sagar, Ganesh ran a small tea stall in Jayanagar but was not punctual to the stall and conducted business poorly. Angered by this, the ASI is said to have reprimanded his son in February. Soon after the altercation, Ganesh left the house and never returned and a missing persons complaint was filed with the police but, to no avail.

Extremely troubled by his son’s departure, the ASI made all attempts to track down his son and bring him home, but did not succeed. During the elections, the ASI was deployed on security detail where he remained till Saturday afternoon. After he completed his duty, ASI Sagar went to the godown at around 9.30 and committed suicide.

After the post mortem was completed, his body was handed over to his family and the police have registered a case of unnatural death.
