Bengaluru: The Tanzanian student who was allegedly attacked and molested by a strong mob, as a reaction to mowing down of a woman by a drunk Sudanese student on Hesaraghatta main road, has reportedly made up her mind to resume her studies. After counselling sessions, the girl is believed to have conveyed to the college management that she would want to focus on studies and career and would resume studies in a few days.

The 21-year-old student pursuing II year of Bachelor of Business Administration in a private college located off Hesaraghatta road has been assured of support and security by the college authorities and as per sources the College is making that extra bit of effort to build up the confidence among the African student community studying in the institute.

It may be recalled that last week, a drunk Sudanese student Mohammed Ismail mowed a 35-year-old woman name Shabana Taj on Hesaraghatta Main Road. Almost 30 minutes after the accident when three Tanzanian students – including the 21-year-old girl – were passing by in a car, the mob stopped the car and attacked the occupants. The student was particularly beaten up and allegedly molested and her clothes ripped apart although she kept insisting that she had nothing to do with the fatal accident.

Their car, a WagonR, too was set ablaze just like that of Ismail who had continued driving on even after mowing down Shabana Taj.

Meanwhile, it is said that the institution has roped in a former police officer to ensure that security measures are in place for students of African origin on the campus and its surroundings – the hotspot of last week’s attacks.
