Authorities Rescue Child Laborers, Raise Awareness in Hoskote Taluk Raid

Bengaluru: During an inspection and raid of different locations in the Hoskote taluk, authorities rescued a child laborer and a juvenile laborer on Monday. Various establishments such as shops, garages, bakeries, chicken and mutton shops, and brick  were visited to raise awareness about the employment of child labor.

The officials emphasized that child labor is a punishable offense. The law states that if any child under the age of 14 years works in any field, or if children under the age of 18 years work in hazardous fields, it can lead to imprisonment for a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 2 years. Additionally, fines ranging from ₹20,000 to ₹50,000 may be imposed.

The inspection was conducted by Labor Officer HR Nagendra, District Child Labor Project Director Subbarao, Labor Inspector Yatish Kumar, Assistant Child Development Project Officer Anthamma, Education Department BRC Nagaraju, Swayam Sevak Sankariappa, and Child Helpline Staff members Srinivas and Soumya.
