A suspected case of road rage has come to light from Sarjapur Road, where a car driver was allegedly chased and assaulted by two autorickshaw drivers following a minor road incident.

The complainant, Shriraj Bhardwaj, a native of Ajmer in Rajasthan, reported that the incident occurred on March 25 around 8.20 pm while he was driving with a colleague.

Minor incident escalates into chase

According to the complaint, the situation began when an autorickshaw allegedly approached from the wrong side and made slight contact with the car, causing no visible damage.

However, Bhardwaj alleged that the auto driver began aggressively chasing their vehicle, attempting to block their path in moving traffic and even trying to open the car doors.

Attack near Sarjapur Bridge

The situation reportedly escalated when another autorickshaw joined the chase. The two vehicles allegedly intercepted the car near Sarjapur Bridge.

Bhardwaj claimed that one of the drivers picked up a concrete stone and smashed the windshield while they were still inside the vehicle.

Assault inside tech park premises

Seeking safety, the victims drove into a gated office complex, identified as RGA Tech Park. However, the accused allegedly followed them inside.

The complainant stated that he was physically assaulted, sustaining injuries to his face before the main accused fled the scene. The second driver reportedly apologised when police arrived.

Police register NCR

The case has been recorded at the Bellandur Police Station as a Non-Cognisable Report (NCR). Police said further legal action will require additional steps, including recording the complainant’s statement.

Officials confirmed that one of the autorickshaw drivers has been traced, and efforts are underway to continue the investigation.

Counter claims emerge

The autorickshaw driver has denied the allegations, claiming that his vehicle was damaged and that he was attempting to stop the car to resolve the issue.

Police stated that further inquiry is ongoing to establish the sequence of events.
