In a shocking incident on the night of April 12, four men in an autorickshaw assaulted a restaurant employee and a cab driver, stealing their phones, cash, and a car key on Chikka Banaswadi Main Road.

The victims, Chengappa, 57, a restaurant worker from Jai Jivan Nagar, and Yogesh, 29, a cab driver from Kamakshipalya, were the targets of this violent robbery. Chengappa, on his way home after work, was about 60 meters from his house when an autorickshaw stopped near him. As he was about to walk past, one of the men attempted to steal his phone. When Chengappa resisted, another attacker emerged with an iron rod, hitting him on the head. While bleeding profusely, Chengappa’s phone was snatched.

Yogesh, who was driving by, saw Chengappa in distress and rushed to help. As he approached, two more men emerged from the autorickshaw. They threatened Yogesh with a knife, stole his phone, Rs 4,000 in cash, and his car key before fleeing the scene.

Chengappa was immediately taken to the hospital by his family, while Yogesh used a bystander’s phone to report the crime. Police have examined CCTV footage from the area and discovered that the miscreants had covered their vehicle’s registration number.
