Bengaluru: ‘Avani Orchards’, located in Nelamangala, Bengaluru, has installed a path-breaking device recently, in order to find the exact status of the groundwater level.
This unique IOT device was developed and installed by SYSCON Instruments of Bengaluru and the same has been done under the guidance of Dr. Lingaraju, National Director, River Rejuvenation and Ground Water Projects at Art of Living. Through this device, one can easily find the groundwater level and take all appropriate measures to recharge the groundwater. With this, Avani Orchards has become a full-fledged demonstration centre to show how groundwater level can be increased and what measures should be taken for the same. Experts from ISRO, SISCO, Art of Living are also available here to demonstrate and provide tips on increasing groundwater level.
How does this device work?
This device needs to be fitted in the recharge well and a cable should be inserted into that same well. Its is fitted with a sensor that senses the level of the groundwater at that particular area and displays the level of the water.
Pratap Hegde of Avani Orchards, who is also the CEO and founder of Telematics4u Services, told Newskarnataka.com that the device helps find the exact level of groundwater. The data and analytics can be accessed on a mobile app in real-time. If we find less groundwater in a particular area, we should take suitable measures to increase the groundwater level by constructing check dams, water pool, recharge well, injection well etc,” he said.
Hegde informed that the people should be very careful while digging bore wells, extracting sand from the river etc. “If we keep on doing this, we will face a severe shortage of drinking water in the coming days. Hence, priority should be given to recharging wells, rainwater harvesting methods and other measures. Avani Orchards will provide guidance in this regard through demonstrations and live examples,” he added.
Avani Orchards is a purely organic farm with a variety of fruits, flowers and vegetables and a verdant green landscape dotted with natural ecosystems of lily ponds, bee-hives, bamboo groves, a giant ant-hill that’s a marvel of architecture etc. It is located in Nelamangala, near Bengaluru, about 45 minutes from the heart of the city. The farmhouse, nestled amidst the lush greenery, is a haven.
The serenity of the picturesque farm is enhanced with dappled sunlight, blooming flowers, swaying trees, cobbled paths, the hum of bees and flutter of butterflies alighting on a carpet of lush grass only to fly off again into the blue. The farmhouse itself is a two-storied traditional home. The basic materials used for the construction of the aesthetically designed farmhouse include locally available stone such as laterite, granite, timber, mud, thatch, plaited coconut leaves, bamboo, and Mangalore tiles.
With all these organic resources, the building is climate-responsive and provision of shading from the rain through deep verandahs allows for cross ventilation. The home is designed to blend into the ecology of its environs of coconut palms, banana groves and mango trees and at its heart is a beautiful open courtyard that lets in the elements of rain and sunshine, built around the central piece of a towering peepal tree that sways and hums a soothing and hypnotic song as the breeze rustles its heart-shaped elegant leaves.
