Bengaluru: India’s billionaire population continues to rise, with the country now home to over 350 billionaires, according to the M3M Hurun India Rich List 2025. The latest report shows that India’s wealthiest added fortunes at a record pace — ₹1,991 crore every single day — with 1,687 individuals now possessing wealth exceeding ₹1,000 crore.

Bengaluru’s billionaires shine

Among the top 100 richest people on the list, seven families hail from Bengaluru, underlining the city’s status as a thriving economic hub driven by technology, finance, and education. While Mumbai retained its position at the top with 451 individuals, followed by New Delhi (223), Bengaluru ranked third with 116 names in the 2025 list.

Azim Premji leads Bengaluru’s wealthy

Topping the list of Bengaluru’s richest families is Azim Premji and family, the founders of Wipro, with an estimated net worth of ₹2.21 lakh crore. The tech tycoon’s ranking rose one spot to the 8th position nationally, following a 16% increase in wealth over the past year.

According to Hurun India, Premji has recorded the sharpest rise in wealth among the top 10 richest Indians in the last five years. “Azim Premji and family surged from 34th to eighth with a remarkable 6x growth, taking wealth to ₹2.21 lakh crore,” the report stated.
