Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Milk Producers Union Limited (BAMUL) increased the milk procurement price by Rs.2 following the increase in fodder rates. From January 1, they will get Rs. 28 per liter of milk.
Presently, milk producers are paid Rs. 26 per liter of milk that they supply.
BAMUL is collecting milk in Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, and Ramanagar districts.
According to BAMUL President Narasihma Murthy, milk producers are complaining that as summer is around the corner, the fodder rate has increased and dairy business has become unviable. “Keeping their interest in mind, we decided to increase the procurement rate,” he said.
He also urged the state government to increase the milk and milk products rate as it has not been revised for the last three years. “The farmers are in distress. To help them, the government should revise the prices,” he urged.
