Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), which suspended 211 scheduled services between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday on account of the bandh called in Tamil Nadu, has incurred a loss of Rs 26.49 lakh.
The KSRTC operates buses from 13 divisions in the State to various destinations in Tamil Nadu. The most number of services were cancelled from Ramangar (67) and Bengaluru (42).
An official of the KSRTC said, “As decided on Wednesday, day services were suspended. The bus services to Tamil Nadu resumed around 5 p.m. on Thursday. The bus services of KSRTC’s counterpart in Tamil Nadu to Karnataka were also hit.”
Many passengers, who were unaware of the bandh, were stranded at KSRTC’s Shantinagar and Mysore Road bus stands.
The bandh had an impact on private operators too, as they were not allowed to cross the border.
