Bengaluru: Anubhava Mantapa, an academy of mystics, saints, and philosophers of the ‘veerashaiva’ faith formed in the 12th century by social reformer Basavanna, will be the state tableau in the Republic Day parade of January 26, 2020.
The tableau is ready for the parade and is receiving its final touches in New Delhi.
Anubhava Mantapa is considered the first democratic institution of India where everyone was allowed to express their views on any matter. Basavanna founded this in Kudala Sangama at Basava Kalyana in Bidar district.
Basavanna used this platform to create awareness against social evils including the caste system. Several “vacahana” writers including Devara Dasimayya, Allama Prabhu, and others were part of this Anubhava Mantapa.
