Bengaluru: In a bid to enhance participation in the ‘Dengue Warrior’ short video contest and boost awareness about dengue prevention, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has introduced cash rewards for the top ten entries. The contest aims to encourage residents to create impactful videos highlighting dengue prevention methods.
According to The Times of India, the top five videos will each receive ₹25,000, while the entries ranked 6th to 10th will be awarded ₹10,000 each. Participants are required to upload their videos to Google Drive using the link or QR code provided on BBMP’s social media platforms. Each submission must include the participant’s name, contact number, residential area, and ward. For students, additional details such as class, school, and area are also required.
The BBMP’s initiative comes in response to a surge in dengue cases in Karnataka. To improve disease management, the Health Department has appointed nodal officers at all government hospitals in Bengaluru. These officers are responsible for enhancing patient care, expediting response times, and managing dengue cases more effectively. As of July 18, the state has reported 11,451 dengue cases, surpassing 10,000 cases for the year, as per news agency PTI.
