Bengaluru: The BBMP has approved the name of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar for the Yelahanka flyover. it was approved unanimously in the BBMP meeting held on Monday.
It may be recalled that Kannada organizations were opposing the name of Savarkar for the flyover. Progressive thinkers and opposition leaders are also opposing the proposal.
Even though the BBMP was planning to hold the naming ceremony in April, it was canceled at the last minute as experts pointed out that the BBMP didn’t follow the norms. Now the decks have been cleared for the renaming.
The state urban development department will notify the final decision through a gazette publication.
