BBMP begins clearing of fallen trees, weak branches as monsoon arrives

Bengaluru: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has cut down over dozen of trees on Wednesday April 13. Over dozen of old trees and also weak trees have been uprooted before monsoon showers to avoid any untoward incidents due to rain.

The BBMP has assigned the work to 21 teams with seven members each to clear fallen trees and weak branches as City has witnessed trees falling due to the sudden spurt of rains. BBMP Forest Division senior officer said that, our presonnel from BBMP have been asked to remove fallen trees and prune weak branches. The operation has been carried out at more than 39 places in the City.

The BBMP has also been taking immediate action on arrival of complaints. According to data, as many 1,000 trees were getting uprooted every year due to rains in Bengaluru,
