Bengaluru: In a first-of-its-kind experiment in the State, the BBMP has decided to launch Covid – 19 vaccination centres which will function round-the-clock. People can walk into these centres any time of the day or night and get vaccinated.
As of now, 92.56 lakh people in Bengaluru city received the first dose while 67.76 lakh persons have received both doses. This has made the city safer against Covid – 19.
BBMP Chief Administrative Officer Gaurav Gupta confirmed the proposal. He informed that the idea is to further expand the vaccination drive.
Sources in the BBMP informed that initially one Primary Health Centre (PHC) each in 8 zones of the BBMP will have this facility. Later based on the public response, the number of PHCs will be increased.
Presently the Covid – 19 vaccination drive is done up to 7.30 pm in the government hospitals. The aggressive drive helped the BBMP to keep the new infections low.
