In Bengaluru, Naveen, son of a Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) employee, was arrested for allegedly misusing official e-Khata login credentials to manipulate property records in a fraud. Upa Lokayukta Justice B Veerappa caught Naveen red-handed at the Kempegowdanagara Sub-Division office, Jayanagar, while altering an address in an e-Khata document.
Naveen’s mother, Kavitha, a BBMP second division assistant, and Sujatha, an assistant revenue officer, are absconding and being traced. Police revealed Naveen, unauthorized to access the BBMP system, fraudulently used his mother’s login credentials. Lokayukta officials filed a complaint, and Naveen has been remanded to five days in police custody for investigation.
In a parallel development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided six BBMP offices under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The searches focused on irregularities in civic works such as borewell digging and installation of RO plants. Significant documents and electronic evidence were seized during the operation.
The incident highlights ongoing scrutiny of corruption and fraudulent activities within Bengaluru’s civic administration, with authorities intensifying efforts to ensure accountability.
