Bengaluru: The BBMP decided to launch a 150 black spot challenge to its engineers to clean at least five black spots from their area. Under this initiative, the BBMP wants to clean 150 blackspots in all the 27 assembly constituencies under the city limits with in a timeframe.
According to D Randeep, special commissioner, BBMP, all the engineers are directed to map the blackspots in their areas and prepare a list. “By December 15, we want to clear these blackspots on priority basis. Our target is 150 blackspots in one go,” he informed.
“Blackspots are the major problems. If we bring down the number of blackspots we can resolve the garbage crisis in the city,” he added.
According to the BBMP sources, around 1, 700 blackspots are identified in the city till now. “Clearing the blackspots is not an easy task. They need a special drive and awareness drive among the general public,” informed an officer from the environmental engineering department.
