Bengaluru’s BBMP-run pre-university colleges have achieved a notable 70% pass rate in this year’s II PU board exams. Out of 2,345 students from 19 colleges, 1,645 cleared the exams, marking a steady improvement in performance.

Among the successful candidates, 160 students scored above 85%, qualifying for distinction. These top performers will receive cash awards of ₹35,000 each from the BBMP — a move aimed at motivating academic excellence.

The BBMP PU College in Bhairaveshwaranagar led with a 93% pass rate, followed by Kaveri Puram (89%) and Padarayanapura (87%). One student from Padarayanapura scored an outstanding 96%, while Sameer Ahmed, who secured 94.2%, shared, “My parents are daily wage workers. This result means everything. I want to pursue engineering.”

Anusha R., a science student from Bhairaveshwaranagar College, said, “Scoring above 85% is a dream come true. The cash prize will help fund my CET coaching.”

Lecturer Savitha K. emphasized the resilience of students from difficult circumstances, saying their success reflects the impact of dedication and guidance.

Over the last three academic years, the pass percentage has seen fluctuations — 64% in 2021–22, rising to 78% in 2022–23, and now settling at 70%, demonstrating consistent progress post-pandemic.

BBMP officials reaffirmed their commitment to upgrading facilities and supporting meritorious students, calling the cash awards both a reward and a source of inspiration.
