Bengaluru: A Lokayukta court here sentenced BBMP City Revenue Inspector of R R Nagar B N Sriram to four years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 3 Lakhs for accepting bribe.

After purchasing an industrial shed at Peenya Industrial Area, the new owner Laxminarayana had submitted an application to the BBMP for transferring the Khata documents of the lands. Revenue Inspector Sriram had been ordered by the BBMP Additional Commissioner to file a detailed report about it. However, Sriram extended a demand for Rs 2 Lakh from Laxminarayana for completing the report.

Fed up of the callous attitude of the officer, Laxminarayana filed a complaint with the Lokayukta office against Sriram. Sriram was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 on October 7, 2013.

Delivering the verdict, Judge Ravindra Hegde has ordered a fine Rs 1 Lakh under Section 7, four years imprisonment under Section 13 (1) (d) and 13 (2) and Rs 2 Lakh fine under 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
