Bengaluru: The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has decided to develop an additional 3,000 sites in Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout for those who lost sites in Arkavathy Layout. These plots will be allotted to those who have lost sites during the redo scheme of Arkavathy Layout, at no extra charge.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Bengaluru Development Minister K.J. George on Thursday. The BDA has already allotted 5,000 sites in Kempegowda Layout apart from over 2,200 sites for farmers who gave up land for the project. To this, the BDA will now add another 3,000 plots for those who lost their sites in Arkavathy Layout.

The development authority has allocated Rs. 1,300 crore for taking up civil works in Kempegowda Layout.

However, not all those who lost sites are keen to take alternative sites in Kempegowda Layout. G. Shivaprakash, president, Arkavathy Site Allottees’ Association, said that only a handful of the allottees were ready to take sites in Kempegowda Layout. “Most of them fear that would mean a repeat of running from pillar to post at the BDA. Many have already filed suits in courts which they do not want to be jeopardised. They are firm on availing of alternative sites in Arkavathy Layout itself,” Shivaprakash said.
