Bengaluru: BJP party ticket aspirant from Sagar Assembly Constituency Belur Gopalkrishan has decided to join Congress.

Gopal Krishna’s decision to quit the saffron brigade came after BJP denied him party ticket and preferred Hartalu Halappa instead.

Gopalkrishna met Congress State In-charge K C Venugopal and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru and is understood to have conveyed his decision to join Congress party.

State Revenue Minister and veteran leader Kagodu Thimmappa is Gopalkrishna’s uncle. The latter defeated the former political heavy weight on two occasions in 2004 and 2008. He ultimately tasted defeat as Janata Dal (S) candidate in 2013.
