Bengaluru: The Green Line service of the Metro left the officials in a tizzy as they had to struggle to manage the serpentine queue at the ticket counters on Sunday, the first day of the new service.
Chaotic situation prevailed at the ticket counters when the impatient people in the queue waiting for the tickets saw the first train chug out of the station.
For reasons unknown, only four out of the eight ticket counters were functioning and the four counters could not meet the demands of the people waiting for ticket.
It is said that the BMRCL staff had thought that the Green Line would not evoke great response on Sunday as India and Pakistan match was scheduled on the same day. But, the scenes at the station raged BMRCL Managing Director Pradeep Singh Kharola, who took the Chief Security Officer to task for not opening all the ticket counters.
Kharola has reportedly told that he would assess the demand and take steps to provide better and timely service to people. It is said that 50,000 passengers traveled on the new stretch between Sampige Road and Yelachenahalli, between 4pm to 9.30 pm.
