Bengalureans stay indoors, prohibitory orders till today evening

Bengaluru: Citizens of the Garden City preferred to stay indoors after widespread violence due to protests against the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu took place the past two days. Though nothing major was reported till Tuesday evening, there was no movement of people in the open like the city usually has.

Uneasy calm prevails in Bengaluru, second victim succumbs Two people have lost their lives in the protests. Police allowed many Tamil Nadu-registered vehicles to be parked in police station premises. Roads were deserted with only a few autos, cabs and private buses plying.

Government offices were closed due to Bakrid, whereas private firm employees worked from home. Commercial establishments too were closed. As many as 335 people were arrested by police for indulging in violence. Many ATMs ran out of cash and petrol bunks that were open witnessed heavy rush.

Prohibitory orders clamped on Monday evening will be in force till Wednesday night.
