Bengaluru: A Model for City Expansion and Traffic Solutions
Bengaluru isn’t merely attractive due to its pleasant climate and thriving IT sector; it’s also a valuable case study for other cities and nations, offering lessons on technological advancements and traffic management. The city has evolved into a teaching ground for urban planning, especially on what mistakes to avoid when expanding urban spaces to prevent traffic gridlocks.
In the third week of this month, a group of six delegates from Cape Town will visit Bengaluru to engage with Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in hopes of enhancing their local economy and socio-economic infrastructure.
Traffic congestion is a universal issue, not just a Bengaluru dilemma. The South African team aims to explore effective strategies to alleviate the growing traffic problems at the opportune moment. They will also focus on proactive measures to avert further complications, as highlighted by MoveInSync, a platform that manages employee commutes. The company will host the team during their stay in Bengaluru.
It’s worth noting that MoveInSync recently published a report on March 12, offering key recommendations to ease Bengaluru’s traffic congestion. The report was presented to Priyank Kharge, the state’s IT-BT and Rural Development Minister, following the Mobility Symposium held last October.
Mohith Mohan, Founder and CEO of Moar Advisor, emphasized that Cape Town could learn valuable lessons from Bengaluru, particularly in creating a vast urban ecosystem as the city expands westward, similar to Bengaluru’s approach.
During their visit, the delegation will tour GCCs along the Outer Ring Road and in Manyata Tech Park to observe employee mobility and the steps companies are taking. The discussions will center around the IT and ITeS industries, as well as employment rates.
