Bengaluru: Director General and Inspector General of Police Praveen Sood on Wednesday September 28 warned that strict action will be taken against those who protest against the ban imposed on the Popular Front of India (PFI).

He said that no protests can be allowed against the decision of the Union Government.

“Any person or organisation who organises a protest against the ban will be considered a member of the organisation that has been banned, and appropriate legal action will be taken against them,” he warned.

Sood said that the Centre issued a notification and directed states on the steps they must take in response to the ban. The orders will be carried out in accordance with the notification by the District Magistrates and Police Commissioners, he said.

On September 22, NIA had arrested seven people and the state police 15 suspects on September 22, and they have been taken into police custody for 11 days, he said.

On the basis of questioning the arrested persons and the materials seized, the state police conducted another search operation on Tuesday, during which time 101 persons were taken into preventive custody.

Once they provide a good behaviour bail bond, they will be released, Sood added. The Bengaluru City Police deployed more officers and set up elaborate security in sensitive areas throughout the City.
