Rajesh Bhandiwad, an 82-year-old elderly traveler, shared his troubling experience at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) after arriving from London on November 6, 2024. Despite having a ticket with wheelchair service, he reported having to “scramble” to obtain assistance. His 72-year-old wife, dealing with physical ailments, was also forced to walk long distances in the late hours to reach the taxi stand. Bhandiwad described his experience as “chaotic,” noting a lack of regulation at the taxi area, where he felt overcharged.
His Facebook post sparked widespread reactions, with many condemning the airport staff’s apparent neglect of senior citizens. Other travelers shared similar experiences, citing understaffing and poor service for elderly passengers. The incident has led to calls for improved accessibility and support for seniors at KIA.
