Bengaluru‘s Kempegowda International Airport has made history — Terminal 2 (T2) is now officially India’s first to be awarded the prestigious 5-Star Airport Terminal Rating by Skytrax, the global gold standard for airport quality.

The elite rating follows a comprehensive audit of over 800 passenger-related factors across more than 30 categories. These range from architectural design, hygiene standards, and safety measures to digital infrastructure, eco-friendliness, accessibility, and service quality — all aimed at delivering a world-class, smooth travel experience.

In a statement issued by Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL), MD & CEO Hari Marar expressed gratitude, noting, “These accomplishments place Bengaluru firmly on the global aviation map. We sincerely thank our passengers, stakeholders, and employees for their continued trust.”

Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted lauded the achievement, saying, “With this recognition, BLR Airport stands as the first in India to be awarded the coveted 5-Star Rating — the pinnacle of airport excellence.”

This milestone cements Bengaluru’s T2 as not just a national leader but a global contender in aviation standards.
