A new scam seems to be making rounds in Bengaluru, leaving residents puzzled and uneasy. A woman recently received a call from someone claiming to be a Swiggy delivery executive, but the catch? She had never placed an order. Since she wasn’t home, she requested the caller to leave the parcel at her doorstep. However, when she returned, there was no package in sight.
A Reddit user, Subject-Fisherman-90, shared this odd experience in the r/bangalore community under the post titled “A strange incident happened in Bengaluru.” He recounted how his girlfriend received an unexpected call from a supposed Swiggy agent who mentioned a parcel under his name.
Users in the comments pointed out that this scam typically involves cash-on-delivery fraud, where victims unknowingly pay for low-quality items or even empty boxes. Another user raised concerns about personal safety, suggesting that the delivery person might have accessed contact details from a prior order and could be stalking the woman. Checking security footage, verifying past deliveries, and filing a complaint were some of the precautions advised.
Similar scams have surfaced before. One person shared an experience of receiving a fake confirmation email from a fashion retailer. Despite never placing an order, a sweater mysteriously arrived at their home a week later.
Residents are urged to stay cautious, verify deliveries, and report suspicious incidents.
