A 52-year-old man turned himself in to the police after brutally murdering his wife with a sickle in the early hours of Friday. The shocking incident unfolded around 3:30 am at their home in Subbaiahnapalya, Banaswadi, located in east Bengaluru.

The victim, identified as 47-year-old Kalaivani, was found with multiple deep cuts on her neck. The accused, Ramesh, a carpenter by profession, surrendered voluntarily before police were even alerted. Although neighbours informed the Banaswadi night patrol about the crime, Ramesh had already reached the police station and confessed.

Upon escorting him to the scene, officers confirmed the grim details. During interrogation, Ramesh recounted years of domestic unrest. Previously widowed and father to two daughters, Ramesh had married Kalaivani 12 years ago, following the death of her first husband. The couple had a son together.

However, family life was strained. Ramesh claimed Kalaivani refused to look after his daughters, forcing him to send them to live with his parents. Frequent quarrels reportedly erupted whenever he visited them. On Thursday night, after returning from one such visit, a heated argument broke out. According to Ramesh, Kalaivani made insulting remarks implying an inappropriate relationship with his daughters.

In a fit of rage, he allegedly attacked her with a sickle. Police have contacted Kalaivani’s relatives, who are expected to reach Bengaluru soon. A murder case has been officially registered, and further investigation is underway.
