Bengaluru: A large number of citizens joined the Tiranga Yatra on Thursday to show appreciation for India’s armed forces following Operation Sindoor.
The non-political rally, organized by the BJP, began at Sirur Grounds on Sampige Road, Malleswaram, and concluded at 18th Cross in the same area. A giant Indian flag led the procession, accompanied by school children, ex-servicemen, local residents, women, and party leaders. Throughout the event, participants shouted patriotic chants and sang ‘Vande Mataram’.
Leaders stressed that the march was conducted under the national flag, without promoting any party symbols.
“This is a mission for the country, not a campaign for votes,” said Leader of Opposition R Ashoka, adding that the nation stands firmly with its soldiers.
Family members of those killed in the Pahalgam terror attack (April 22) from Karnataka were honoured during the march.
Advocate Kshama Naragund described Operation Sindoor as both a military operation and a powerful reply to attacks on Indian womanhood. “Sindoor is more than a marital symbol — it stands for strength and dignity,” she noted.
Retired Air Marshal A V Murali shed light on the critical role played by women officers in planning and executing the operation. He emphasized their leadership and bravery, stating, “Courage knows no gender.”
He also cautioned that the operation isn’t over and called the current ceasefire only a temporary break, expressing hope that PoK would one day return to India.
