Bengaluru: The State Government on the evening Monday November 14 issued a circular creating the post of Special Commissioner (Traffic) to monitor and ease the traffic in the City. IPS Officer M. A. Saleem has been appointed for the newly created position.
The new post of Special Commissioner of Police for Traffic was created by the government, and an officer with the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) is appointed to it.
The post has been upgraded from the previous Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) to Special Commissioner. Officers with the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) previously held the position of Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic).
Saleem had previously held positions of Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) in the City. He has a doctorate in Traffic Management.
He had created 128 roads one-ways to help with traffic during his previous employment at the Traffic Department.
He received recognition on a national level and significantly reduced traffic for his “Safe Routes to School” project.
