A software engineer in Bengaluru, Srikanth, has filed a complaint against his wife, Bindushree, accusing her of mental and physical harassment, blackmail, and financial exploitation. The complaint, registered at Vyalikaval police station, details demands for money, threats, and alleged assault.
Srikanth stated that he married Bindushree in August 2022 through a matrimonial platform. According to him, financial pressures began before the wedding, with Rs 3 lakh transferred to his mother-in-law’s account and Rs 50,000 taken for wedding expenses. He further alleged that his wife refused physical intimacy, demanding Rs 5,000 per day for it. He even accused her of attempting to harm his private parts, describing it as an attempted murder.
Additionally, he claimed her family pressured him to pay Rs 75,000 monthly towards a home loan for property purchased by his wife and mother-in-law. He refused, leading to further harassment. Srikanth also accused Bindushree of disrupting his work-from-home meetings, arguing and dancing, which led to his job loss. He has recorded videos as evidence. When he sought a divorce, she allegedly demanded Rs 45 lakh as a settlement.
In a counter-complaint, Bindushree alleged domestic abuse, mistreatment, and dowry harassment. She accused Srikanth’s family of controlling behavior, including suggesting installing a bedroom camera. She claimed his brother advised Srikanth to impregnate her to prevent her from leaving.
Police have summoned both for questioning. A psychiatrist recommended a mutual divorce, which Bindushree reportedly agreed to.
