Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that discussions are on to extend the facility to government undertakings like the Bengaluru Bruhat Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) since government organisations are exempt from the GST.

Speaking to mediapersons after participating in the 48th GST meeting, chaired by Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, he said that a decision will be taken at the next meeting on what kind of services are to be given concession, with a few amendments.

It was also suggested that all suppliers to rural and urban local bodies receive GST exemptions. Bommai said that a decision regarding the formation of the GST Appellate Tribunal to handle related cases will also be made at the next meeting.

“High Court cases are coming, and if a tribunal is formed, it will help in quick redress that will also generate revenue for the government,” he noted.
