In yet another case of reckless driving, a speeding delivery rider crashed into an elderly couple in a Bengaluru neighborhood on Monday afternoon. The impact left the woman, in her 60s, writhing in pain.

A bystander, witnessing the accident, immediately rushed her to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed that, fortunately, she had sustained no fractures.

The incident has sparked renewed concern over the growing safety risks posed by high-speed delivery riders navigating through city roads. With food and parcel deliveries surging, many riders, pressured by deadlines, weave dangerously through traffic.

Taking to social media, X user Sivasubramaniam Jayaraman called for stricter regulations, advocating for a speed cap of 50 kmph on delivery vehicles, akin to taxi restrictions.

Frustrated citizens weighed in, criticizing the system and companies prioritizing speed over safety. One user lashed out at rapid delivery services, saying, “The government could easily ban this absurd 10-minute delivery madness, but they won’t.”

Others pointed to reckless habits, with one remarking, “It’s not just speed—it’s their careless attitude. Most don’t even use rearview mirrors; those who do treat them as decoration.”

Some urged accountability for bike rental services, while others lamented the blatant disregard for traffic norms, citing wrong-way riding and constant phone use.
