A doctor from Sanjay Nagar, Bengaluru, recently filed a police report after receiving an alarming request from a woman on Instagram. The woman allegedly asked the doctor to prescribe a deadly tablet to end her mother-in-law’s life, claiming the elderly woman had been persistently tormenting her.

Dr. Sunil Kumar, the complainant, revealed that the woman had discovered his contact information on Instagram. She reached out to him through messages, urgently requesting a prescription for a fatal dose of medication. She explained that her elderly mother-in-law’s continuous harassment had pushed her to seek such a drastic measure.

In response, Dr. Kumar firmly refused her request, explaining that his professional responsibility was to preserve life, not to end it. Concerned by the disturbing nature of the woman’s demands, he approached the Sanjay Nagar police on February 17 and provided them with the chat details and the woman’s contact number as evidence.

Dr. Kumar, also recognized for his social activism, later speculated that the woman might have been attempting to entrap him, as he had faced opposition in the past. He clarified that he did not know the woman personally, and their interaction lasted only a few minutes.

The woman later apologized and asked him not to report the incident. However, police were unable to trace her number, which had been switched off, leading them to believe it could have been a prank or an incident of poor judgment. Authorities are investigating further to identify the woman and her location.
