Bengaluru: Thieves broke into the house of a businessman, killed the housekeeper and security guard, stole the gold ornaments and cash from the house under Koramangala Police Station limits and fled.

The deceased have been identified as Kariyappa (52) from Davanagere and Dil Bahadur (50) from Nepal. The assailants took Rs. 5 lakh from the house. Cash and more than 100 grams of gold ornaments were stolen.

Information has been received about the accused and a search is on. The incident took place in the wee hours of Sunday December 18 at the house of Rajagopala Reddy, a native of Davanagere in Koramangala’s 6th Block, police said.

Rajagopal Reddy is the partner of an educational institution. Kariyappa has been working for 30 years. Dil Bahadur had been a security guard for two years. It is said that Rajagopala Reddy had gone to Anantapur with his family on Saturday December 17 for a relative’s wedding. There were only two workers in the house, Kariyappa, and security guard Dil Bahadur. Around 12.30 am on Sunday December 18 the assailants barged into the house and first assaulted Kariyappa, tied his hands and legs and strangled him to death. When the other domestic workers came home in the morning, they came to know about Kariyappa’s murder. They immediately informed the Police. Koramangala Police, who reached the spot later, started to search for watchman. It is suspected that the robbers killed security guard Dil Bahadur too before robbing.
