On Tuesday evening, parts of Bengaluru experienced scattered rainfall, which continued into the late night. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city’s observatory recorded 2.8 mm of rain, while HAL airport saw 3.1 mm until 11:30 pm. The Automated Weather Station (AWS) for Bengaluru Urban reported 4 mm during the same period.

N. Puviarasan, Head of the Bengaluru Met Centre, mentioned that after a few dry days, the city would experience sporadic rainfall. The forecast predicts little change in the city’s maximum and minimum temperatures, which will remain between 34°C and 21°C over the next two days. He also indicated that thunderstorms and gusty winds (30-40 km/h) are typical of pre-monsoon showers, which will continue until the monsoon season begins in June.

Despite the rain being relatively light, it led to significant traffic disruptions across several areas, including the Central Business District (CBD), southern and western Bengaluru. Parts of northern, central, and southeastern Bengaluru, such as Hebbal, Lingarajapuram, Kalyan Nagar, Indiranagar, Cantonment, BTM Layout, JP Nagar, and Jayanagar, saw light drizzles. In southwestern Bengaluru, Kengeri, RR Nagar, Uttarahalli, and Nayandahalli experienced brief rainfall.

Vibha, a student traveling from MG Road to Indiranagar, shared her frustration about getting stuck in the rain and struggling to find a ride. “The traffic was bad, and I ended up paying a Rs 30 tip for a ride,” she said, adding that taking the metro would have been a better choice. Waterlogging near Queen’s Circle and slow-moving traffic on Hosur Road and Raj Bhavan Road further contributed to the delays.
