Bengaluru has established a vigilance committee to implement strict measures against the illegal sale of firecrackers in the city. In a recent meeting, G. Jagadish, the Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner, emphasized the necessity for thorough inspections before granting sales permits for crackers.
Key Directives from the Meeting:
- Mandatory Spot Inspections: Officials are required to conduct on-site inspections at businesses before issuing permits for cracker sales.
- Documentation: Businesses must include photographs of their premises in the permit application file.
- Joint Inspections: Police and fire service personnel must collaborate to inspect cracker godowns before licenses are issued.
- Round-the-Clock Checkpoints: A dedicated team from the transport, commercial tax, and police departments will carry out continuous checks at check posts.
