Travellers from Bengaluru can now fly directly to Phuket as Air India Express has launched a new four-times-weekly service connecting Karnataka’s capital with Thailand’s famous island destination.

The inaugural flight departed on June 1, marking a significant expansion of the airline’s international network from Bengaluru. The new route is expected to benefit leisure travellers seeking easier access to one of Southeast Asia’s most popular holiday destinations.

Four weekly flights to Thailand

The direct service operates every Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday using a Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with a seating capacity of 176 passengers.

With a flight time of approximately three hours and 45 minutes, the new route offers a convenient travel option for holidaymakers heading to Phuket, known for its picturesque beaches, vibrant nightlife, cultural attractions and bustling local markets.

The launch complements Air India Express’ Bengaluru-Bangkok service introduced in October last year, further strengthening air connectivity between South India and Thailand.

Expanding international footprint

Air India Express currently operates nearly 500 weekly flights from Bengaluru, connecting passengers to 31 domestic and eight international destinations.

The airline said the new Phuket route aligns with its strategy of enhancing connectivity from major Indian cities to high-demand leisure destinations across Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Recognition for connectivity growth

The carrier recently received significant industry recognition, winning the ‘Airline of the Year’ award in both the Domestic and International categories at Bengaluru Airport’s Pinnacle Awards.

Air India Express also secured the Domestic Connectivity Award at Wings India 2026, organised by the Ministry of Civil Aviation in partnership with the Airports Authority of India and FICCI.

The airline continues to focus on expanding its network while promoting its onboard experience through its ‘Xpress Wali Baat Hai’ campaign featuring actor Pankaj Tripathi.
