Bengaluru: The State Government decided to introduce eggs in the Indira, affordable canteens across the state.
Presently over 500 such canteens are functioning in the state which were set up by Siddaramaiah when he was CM for the first time.
According to the sources, keeping in mind the nutritional values of the eggs, the government decided to introduce the eggs as part of the lunch and dinner offered at these canteens.
This likely to be further add pressure to the state exchequer.
Meanwhile, the state government directed the food and civil supplies department to start another 250 canteens where ever they required.
